Immunization and travel vaccines

Immunizations for Adults and children

The Karen Hospital offers all recommended vaccines and immunization approved in the country. These services are offered at our Immunization and Travel Vaccination Centre on first floor for adults and teens while infants and children immunization and vaccination is done at Paediatric Clinic on third floor on Monday to Friday 8am-5pm and Saturday 8am -12pm

Recommended vaccines

The following vaccinations are recommended for your protection and to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

  • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Shingles ( for adults over 60)
  • Polio
  • Influenza (Flu)
  • Shancol ( cholera)

Vaccines available

Depending on your age, health status, lifestyle or occupational risk, travel and previous immunization the following vaccinations are recommended:

  • Meningococcal Meningitis
  • Pneumococcal Pneumonia
  • Varicella (Chicken pox)
  • Human Papillomavirus vaccine
  • Herpes Zoster
  • Haemophilius influenza type B
  • Rotavirus
  • Havrix ( Hepatitis A adult)
  • Euvax B (Hepatitis B adult)
  • Vaxigrip adult and paediatric
  • Stamaril (Yellow Fever)
  • Twinrix ( combination of Hepatitis A&B)
  • Menactra (Booster after 5years)
  • Prevenar 13
  • Shancol ( cholera)
  • Typhim vi ( typhoid)
  • MMR ( mumps,measles,rubella )
  • Infarix-hexa (diptheria, influenza B, hepatitis B, Pertussis, polio, tetanus)
  • Hexaxim( Hep B, polio, diptheria )
  • Verorab (rabies) pre and post exposure.

NOTE THAT

Influenza vaccination is recommended for all travellers over 6 months of age, especially for children, pregnant women, persons over 65, and those with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, lung disease, heart disease, immunosuppressive disorders, and organ transplant recipients.

Before you travel, the following vaccines should be reviewed and updated if necessary:
